Ciao Ragazzi! mi chiamo Fabrizio, oggi ho installato la versione 10.3 si SUSE e mi chiedevo se, considerato che l'ADSL a casa mia non ci arriva, potevo utilizzare il WinModem del mio PC Notebook [ HP Pavilion DV8226EA ];
tempo fa ho provato con UBUNTU 7.04 ma con scarsissimi risultati!.. mi sapreste consigliare in meglio voi?

Se non sbaglio il modem ha un chip conexant.

Per prima cosa dovre vedere che cosa è il modem e che tipo di chip monta! quindi mi sono scaricato ScanModem.gz ! bene! adesso lo devo fare eseguire a SUSE 10.3!! eheheh
i comandi per eseguire i *.gxz sono? lo posso lasciare sulla scrivania il file?... insomma, come se parlaste ad un idiota! :-P

Quindi, apri un terminale, dai un "cd Desktop" e poi i tre comandi indicati. L'ultimo (./scanModem) lo cambi con "sudo ./scanModem"

Dopo aver eseguito scanModem (come root), ti trovi una directory Modem al cui interno ci sono vari file. In uno (ModemData.txt) ci sono tutte le informazioni relative al tuo modem e all'eventuale driver che puo` essere usato.
Se alla prima esecuzione di scanModem ti dice di caricare il modulo snd-hda-intel, tu fallo e poi riesegui scanModem.

Questo ti fornisce delle indicazioni su come procedere.
I winmodem sono sempre un serio problema da risolvere.
Sarebbe da conoscere il modello esatto del modem.
Segui un po' quanto riportato in http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/first.html per fornire qualche informazione in piu` sul modem in oggetto.
