Ciao Ragazzi e uno sfogo..."finalmente una comunità SuSE!!!"..

Ora passo a esporre il mio problema.

In questi ultimi mesi ho comprato una SuSE 9.0, poi ho installato una Personal 9.1 e ora ho reinstallato una professional 9.1 sul mio portatile Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo A7600 e tutte le distro hanno il medesimo problema e cioè:

Se mantengo attivato il DMA del disco rigido e del masterizzatore la distro crasha o non partono le applicazioni, appena disattivo il DMA tutto funziona perfettamente ma ovviamente con estrema lentezza.

Su suggerimento, ho cambiato anche il disco rigido da toshiba a Hitachi Travelstar ma niente no è cambiato niente.

Il Notebook ha un CHIPSET ALI15X33 e controller IDE M5229 che dovrebbe essere supportato secondo quanto scritto nel sito ALI. Il problema c'era con i kernel 2.2.18 ma poi doveva essere stato risolto invece ho avuto il problema con kernel 2.4.21 (che avrebbe dovuto avere la patch integrata) e ora con kernel 2.6.5. Le opzioni nella compilazione del kernel sono giuste sempre secondo quanto letto nel sito ALI.

Questa cosa mi sta un pò frustrando in quanto penalizza molto le performance del sistema e io voglio assolutamente utilizzare linux al meglio in quanto so che questo dovrebbe essere un problema risolto.

Qualcuno ha dei suggerimenti?

Postero poi il verbose del mio lspci.

Per curiosità: hai provato ad installare un'altra distribuzione?
Almeno verifichiamo se sia "colpa" di SuSE oppure no.

Se sei stanco di virus e schermate blu passa a Linux

Si certo ho provato con Knoppix e con Fedora Core 2 stesso problema... sono veramente frustrato.. non capisco... nei vari siti dove parlano dell'Amilo A7600 questo problema non viene evidenziato

Ho appena recuperato il sistema per le orecchie io non so più come fare tutti i laptop con questo chipset ALI e controller IDE non hanno problemi a riguarda del DMA. Se qualche anima pia mi prendesse per mano per risolvere il problema gli sarò grato per sempre.... VOGLIO LINUX basta WINDOWS...

Della serie non mi arrendo confido in un anima pia..... Laughing ecco le ultime novità del mio caso Thinking

Ho risolto alcuni messaggi poco rassicuranti del log di avvio con questi parametri passati al boot prompt: pci=biosirq pci=noacpi i8042.nomux acpi_irq_balance
Con questi parametri il boot log sembra non dare messaggi strani.
Il problema rimane sempre quando passo parametri hdparm io ho provato questa linea di comando: hdparm -d1 -A1 -m16 -u1 -a64 /dev/hda

Con questa linea di comando i programmi maggiori sembrano funzionare (Koffice, yast, openoffice) ma rimangono problemi con altri programmi che nn si aprono (es. Scribus).

Poi su alcuni altri mi da errori tipo SIGFAULT 11 e quando spengo il sistema vedo linee poco rassicuranti quando chiude i moduli tibo binary non exists o sigfault 11.

Ho tolto l'espansione di memoria da 256 Md modulo SoDIMM della Kingston.. e tutto sembra funzionare..

Era l'unica cosa che diversificava il mio laptop da quelli che vedevo su internet.
