winmodem agere
da quando ho comprato questo pc, l'ho sempre utilizzato con suse. Il sistema mi ha sempre riconoscito il winmodem, ma:
suse 9.0 non si connetteva 
suse 9.1 si connetteva 
suse 9.2 non si connetteva
suse 9.3 si connetteva.
adesso per rispettare questa frequenza, suse 10 non mi si connette: ho scaricato ed installato OGNI VERSIONE DI "SMARTLINK-SOFTMODEM", anche delle edizioni vecchie.
inutile dire che non funziona. questo è l'errore...

Thanks for your reply. I got it fixed by editing resolv.conf & wvdial.conf.
Both Suse 10 and Knoppix booted just fine and did everything except the Suse 10 on the
same machine had problems to connect to my ISP. Before Suse 10, I
always had to change /etc/ppp/resolv.conf every time I came to Asia in order to make the system
look for the domain of my Asian ISP. In the USA it usually worked without tweaking.
My ISP says Suse 10, Knoppix, and Mandrake have been connecting to the ISP
right out of the box.
This, Suse 10, is the first time that a distro has refused to dial the modem when I
added a second modem and a second ISP. I set up 2 new configurations using
wvdialconf and then edited and copied the two new wvdial.conf files. After that
worked then kinternet worked.
